A busy summer for both us does not leave much time for a trip. But we did manage two short trips to take in a few important live music shows. Early in the summer we drove down to Atlantic City, enjoyed dinner in a casino and then saw Van Morrison perform. He put on an interesting show although we were a little disappointed that he didn't "chat" more between songs .. apparently he never does.
Later in the summer we took an overnight trip to Washington, DC. This trip included lunch in Chinatown, browsing in both the Crime & Punishment and the Spy Museum stores (the "museums" were very expensive and frankly didn't look as much fun as the stores), and checking out the National Portait Gallery.
But the highlight of the trip was catching Great Big Sea at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. They put on a fantastic show, our seats were great, and the downpour of rain waited to begin until about 35 seconds after they finished.
