Trip Summary - Tom and Daddy Trip, 2003 (Friday's times are in Eastern Standard Time, and are approximate, other days, times not listed.) Wednesday - July 16, 2003 Mom and Julie left. Thursday - July 17, 2003 Tom and Dad woke up. By 7:50 AM, Dad is getting on the turnpike, beating the time Tom and Dad set up for themselves of 8:00 AM! At a rest, Dad bought Tom a Gyroscope. Then Tom and Dad reached the hotel (Red Roof Inn). They got settled, then left to find the Prodigals and Cherish the Ladies' concert. Since they arrived early, they ate dinner at a nice restaurant across from the concert. Then Tom and Dad picked up their tickets from Will Call, and then listened to the concert. Tom and Dad bought a CD from the Prodigals, and then Tom got it signed! Then they sat down and listened to the Cherish the Ladies' half of the concert, and Dad took a picture (and got told to put the camera away. HEHEHE!). They left after the concert ended, rather than before, and then went back to the room and watched SportsCenter, and went to bed. Dad saw all. 1550 - Tom talked with Patty Wagstaff for a good 3-5 minutes (not exaggerating!!!), and got her autograph, Dad watched Pyro thingie...fake bombs exploded so much that Tom, while in Autograph tent a 1/4 mile away or so, shook (not exaggerating!) 1700 - Tom and Dad back at seats, watched Thunderbirds. 1800 - Tom walked around. 1830 - Tom and Dad back at seats, watched Harrier Demo (Vertical Takeoff and Landing). 1850 - Back at car, drove around trying to get back to hotel (Red Roof Inn). Saturday - July 19, 2003 Tom and Dad woke up, and then Dad played golf at a course in Dayton, and Tom drove well and rode along. Then, Tom and Dad had dinner at Red Lobster, and then went to the Dayton Dragons game (baseball). After the game, they went to see some cool water fountans in the river, then went back to the car, stopping in a bar (didn't get anything to drink...didn't even stay!). In the bar, some musicians (including Amy Rigby), were going to play there, but they left. Dad later regretted that he didn't stay and hear Amy Rigby. They then went back to the Red Roof Inn. Sunday - July 20, 2003 Tom and Dad woke up, and then Dad drove to Pittsburgh, where they went to the Pittsburgh Pirates game (baseball), then drove to Bedford. They got to the hotel (Best Western), then went in the pool (it was pretty cold in there), then went in the hot tub (no chicks ... :-( <-- for Tom). Tom and Dad dried off, and then had dinner at Ed's Steakhouse, right across the street, where Tom and Dad each got the Queen Cut steak (12 oz.). Then they went back to the hotel, and went to bed. Monday - July 21, 2003 Tom and Dad got up, had a continental breakfast at the restaurant tied with the Best Western, packed everything up, and went to GRAVITY HILL!!! At Gravity Hill, a *FREE* "tourist trap" set up by the township of Bedford, in Bedford, you drive and you feel like you are going downhill at some point, but your car is really going uphill (due to optical illusions). When you lift the brake, you go backwards, "uphill" (really downhill). Even though Tom and Dad understood how it worked, it was still fun for them. They then drove to an 18 hole golf course, and were going to have Tom ride along while Dad played, but it didn't work out, due to sudden change of rules after some idiot brought a bunch of kids along and the kids messed up the course. They then went to a 9 hole golf course, where Dad played, and Tom rode along (easily...and drove really well)...plus, Tom hit the HIPPO over 160 yards (and still got a 6 on the hole...hit it TOO far!)!!!! Then they got in the car and drove home!
